About Your Guide

Kendra Holton Clemens is a movement educator, independent scholar, and certified Williamson Technique teacher with sixteen years of experience with the work. She spent more than a decade training actors in university and conservatory settings, including as head of movement at Northern Illinois University and associate director of the Gately/Poole Conservatory. Her teaching brings rigorous physical training into relationship with sensory experience, dramatic imagination, and the actor’s capacity for spontaneous, responsive expression.

Today, Kendra builds at the intersection of human presence, education, and climate through Human in Public, Headwaters Community Farm & Academy, and DeCarbon DeKalb. Across these settings, her work asks how we stay connected to our bodies, one another, and a changing world—and how that connection shapes our capacity for action. Her Williamson teaching and research carry this inquiry forward while preserving the technique for new generations of actors, teachers, and independent students.
